The conventional method for recording late ventricular heart potentials is based on the registration and averaging of signals from three bipolar orthogonal leads \((V_x,V_y,V_z)\). In order to detect late potentials, the averaged curves are filtered by a band-pass filter and combined into a Vector Magnitude (VM) curve by the formula \[ \text{VM}= \sqrt{V^2_x+ V^2_y+ V^2_z}. \] The method of calculating vector magnitude proposed below is based on the registration of six standard and six precardial EKG leads. This approach is more convenient in practice because it allows one to detect late ventricular potentials simultaneously with conventional EKG analysis.
