A special class of nonlinear, nonstationary control systems with delays in the state variables is considered. Using Schauder's fixed point theorem, sufficient conditions both for relative and absolute controllability in a given time interval are formulated and proved. Several economic applications are discussed in detail. Moreover, many remarks and comments on different controllability problems for nonlinear delayed control systems are given. A simple numerical example is also presented. Similar controllability problems for delayed nonlinear systems were discussed by \textit{J. Klamka} [Automatica 12, 633-634 (1976; Zbl 0345.93014); Int. J. Control 28, 307-312 (1978; Zbl 0402.93012)].
