The problem considered in this paper concerns the time evolution and asymptotic behaviour of the distributions of neutral and ionized atoms of the same atomic weight taking into account only interaction giving rise to charge exchange. A generalized definition of wave operators is given and the existence of such wave operators is proved under suitable conditions related to the initial distributions of the two kinds of particles.
