The author suggests a refinement to Moulton's procedure for solving Kepler's equation by means of a finite approximation in case of moderately small eccentricities. He pays tribute to O. Neugebauer for having discovered the equivalence with Kepler's equation of a Greek chord function controlling lunar motion. He also mentions that al-Marwazi's iterative technique for solving that equation was by far superior to Kepler's one for handling his equation.
