The authors study a rotating flow of a two-layer fluid over an axisymmetric bottom topography. The relevant steady quasigeostrophic equations are solved when vorticity is a unique function of the streamfunction, assuming only linear relationships. In each layer vorticity is zero outside a prescribed radius, larger for the lower layer. Continuity at these boundaries results in a complicated eigenvalue problem. The authors discuss various solutions and possible applications.
