The authors deal with displacement and stress states in an orthotropic elastic layer bonded to a special base. The interface between the elastic layer and the base is horizontal and parallel to a plane of elastic symmetry of the orthotropic elastic medium. The base is a very long strike-slip fault embedded in the layer; the coupling is assumed to be either welded or smooth-rigid, or rough-rigid. Theoretical results are given in form of series solutions; numerical results corresponding to various positions of the fault are plotted into diagrams. The results obtained can be useful in seismology.
