The paper deals with the distribution of the time \(T\) between two consecutive events, which has some interest in biostatistical applications. This is a continuation of a paper by \textit{M. J. van der Laan} and \textit{J. M. Robins} [J. Am. Stat. 93, No. 442, 693-701 (1998)], where a locally efficient one-step estimator is proposed for smooth functionals of the distribution of \(T\). In this paper the one-step estimator is defined as the initial estimator plus the empirical mean of an estimator of the efficient influence curve. The author proved that this estimator can be used to estimate the distribution based on interval-censored data. At the end one can find the results of a simulation study.
