The dynamic stress intensity factor is computed for a semi-infinite crack which is subjected to a pair of suddenly applied point loads on its faces. The solution of the problem is obtained by superposition of solutions to two simpler problems. The first one is the Lamb's problem, the second one considers a half-space with negative normal displacements induced by the loads from the Lamb's problem. Integral transforms, the Wiener-Hopf technique, and the Cagniard-de Hoop method are used in the analysis.
