A decomposition depended on directions for nonsingular linear transformation (Q1367395)

This paper presents a decomposition method for a nonsingular linear transformation on an \(n\)-dimensional Euclidean space. From chosen \(p\) orthonormal directions, it gives a method of finding the \(n-p\) quasi-principal directions for the transformation. The applications of such decomposition methods for determining the principal directions of a strain in a homogeneous deformation and its strain energy density function are also given. Poor English makes it somewhat difficult to appreciate the value of the paper.
