The chemical potential of a deformed elastic ferromagnet can be related to a Finsler metric where the magnetic spin is taken as the fiber coordinate (internal variable). The Cartan torsion of this metric is obtained. A linear spin-torsion relation is derived which is analogous to a result in the Einstein-Cartan theory of gravitation.
