The paper is devoted to the evaluation of the body wave field from two or more seismic observation stations. Althaugh a discretization is used, the approach proposed by the authors is not exactly a finite element method since the near-field domain (the vicinity of focal points) is discretized into finite domains, whereas the far-field domain is subdivided into infinite sub-domains (for which the corresponding solutions can be given in a closed form by the use of seismographic records). A matching procedure for partial solutions is derived. Using the inverse Fourier transform, the authors obtain all the field, so giving the possibility to evaluate the body wave field inside the ground. The method is validated for the case of two observation stations.
