The dynamic cavitation problem for viscoplastic materials governed by an overstress model is considered for a hollow sphere submitted to a symmetric traction loading. By considering the incompressibility of the material, the problem reduces to solving two differential equations. The first one is a second order nonlinear differential equation, the second one is concerned with the temperature and proceeds from the heat conduction equation. We find an expression for the critical load, and we give some theoretical results concerning the dependence of the solution on this critical load and various initial conditions.
