For solving a weakly nonlinear system the author first proposes a general two-stage iterative method through two-stage splitting of the system matrix, then by an accelerated overrelaxation technique, a two-stage accelerated overrelaxation method is constructed. For these two classes of methods local and global convergence theories are discussed. In addition monotone convergence properties of the new two-stage iterative methods are presented.
