The stability of a stationary solution of a nonlinear stochastic system is studied by linearization. The resulting (linear) equations contain stochastic parameters. The authors obtain an expression for moment Lyapunov exponent of this system, and apply the results to the problem of an elastic beam under the action of follower force, and to a model of a vehicle traveling over a rough road.
