It is shown that any submanifold as in the title of the paper is necessarily, up to rigid motion, a certain hyperbolic cylinder, provided that is not connected at infinity. This generalizes a previous result of \textit{S. Montiel} [Tôhuku Math. J., II. Ser. 48, 23-31 (1996; Zbl 0848.53039)].
