In the frame of Kirillov theory, the authors present several topics of harmonic analysis on discrete nilpotent groups: a characterization of separated points in the primitive ideal space with hull-kernel topology, a characterization of the fact that all characters are absolutely idempotents, an analysis of the hull-kernel (resp. strong) topology on the primitive ideal space in terms of the facial (resp. pointwise convergence) topology on the set of characters, a weak Frobenius reciprocity property, a Bochner theorem for traces on complete nilpotent groups, considerations on the Plancherel formula.
