A hybrid MHD-gyrokinetic model is set up in order to study interactions of energetic particles with low-frequency MHD waves in a self-consistent way. The magnetic field is assumed sufficiently weak that results in a large plasma-beta parameter. Dynamics of energetic particles is treated by gyrokinetic equations, while the rest of the plasma is described by nonlinear one-fluid MHD equations. The results obtained with a two-dimensional code applied to this model, show a good agreement with linear dispersion analysis of modes including their Landau damping and instabilities.
