The authors determine level 3 root multiplicities for the hyperbolic Kac-Moody algebras \(E_{10}\) and \(HA_1^{(1)}\). They use Virasoro coset construction techniques and thus present somewhat different formulas to those appearing in earlier work of \textit{S.-J. Kang} [Duke Math. J. 74, 635-666 (1994; Zbl 0823.17031)].
