The author introduces and studies some new generalized monotonicity concepts for set-valued mappings and for bifunctions. Support operators and subdifferential operators play a key role in the present analysis. The link between generalized monotonicity of subdifferential operators and generalized convexity of nonsmooth functions is also discussed.
