This paper is devoted to the question whether or not it is possible to use the potential of a simple layer, generated by the fundamental solution, for solving contact problems for multidimensional parabolic equations. The side boundaries can be noncylindrical, nonsmooth (with respect to \(t\)), and unbounded (both with respect to \(x\) and \(t\)).
