A numerical method for coupled solution of the equations of groundwater flow and pollution transportation is presented on the basis of operator-splitting algorithm, and aneapplication of Kalman filtering technique to the study of groundwater pollution is explored. Numerical examples indicate that the theory can avoid unhealthy tendencies in numerical modeling.
