There is investigated the effect of various combinations of the parameters on the resulting quadric patches to form a continuous approximating surface to given curved surfaces which is discussed in a paper by \textit{M. L. Baart} and \textit{R. J. Y. McLeod} [Comput. Math. Appl. 22, No. 8, 11-20 (1991; Zbl 0728.65012)]. A method ensuring that the approximation is exact if the given sculptured patches are quadric is proposed.
