The author proves a number of results on the existence (and non-existence) of elliptic curves over given imaginary quadratic fields with given conductors. The fields concerned are mainly \(\mathbb Q(\sqrt{-1})\) and \(\mathbb Q(\sqrt{-3})\), and the author mentions that his technique can be extended for example to \(\mathbb Q(\sqrt{-2})\) and \(\mathbb Q(\sqrt{-7})\).
