Summary: The analysis of chessboard pebbling by \textit{Fan Chung}, \textit{Ron Graham}, \textit{John Morrison} and \textit{Andrew Odlyzko} [Am. Math. Mon. 102, No. 2, 113-123 (1995; Zbl 0844.05032)] is strengthened and generalized, first to higher dimension and then to arbitrary posets.
