In this paper, two Buffon grid types: grid consisting of a single bend in a segment, and the star grid, are described. By means of these Buffon grid types it shoul be possible to estimate \(\pi\) most efficiently. The main result is that with a fixed length needle, information decreases as the number of rays in the star increases. To summarize, the obtained results provide the crossing probabilities for star grids as functions of those for bent segment grids, and evidence that the most informative standardized star is the simplest, the 2-star or straight segment.
