The paper discusses five papers of the recently deceased Italian geometer G. Tallini. The first two concerns graphic properties of a Veronese surface in \(\text{PG} (5,q)\), \(q\) odd. The third one studies characteristic point-line incidence properties for the set of rational points of some special kind of ruled cubic surface in \(\text{PG} (3,q)\) over a Galois field. The last two, good examples of Tallini's ability of writing expository papers, concern algebraic and combinatoric properties of the Veronese surface on a arbitrary field. Some personal memories of the author, a student and a colleague of Tallini, conclude the paper.
