In the framework of two-scale convergence for homogenization of partial differential equations with periodic coefficients, the authors show how the two-scale method can also be applied to evolution equations, including degenerate and implicit equations, where the coefficients are \(\varepsilon\)-periodic in the space variable. The results are applied to a wide class of initial-boundary value problems. Various aspects of homogenization problems are discussed, including the case in which the limiting solutions satisfy initial and boundary conditions. Some examples are given illustrating possible applications of the general results.
