A type II code over \(\mathbb{Z}_4\) is a self-dual code over \(\mathbb{Z}_4\) containing the all-one vector with all codewords having Euclidean weights divisible by 8. The paper describes some constructions of extremal, that is, having the maximum possible minimum Euclidean weight, codes of type II of length 16, 24, 32 and 40.
