The author investigates problems of the following type: Let \(f\) be a ``nice'' periodic function. For which sets \(H\) is it true that if the difference functions \(\Delta _h f(x) = f(x+h)-f(x)\) are ``even nicer'' for every \(h\in H\) then \(f\) itself must be ``even nicer''?
