The authors offer as nonconstant general solutions \(f\) -- a map of a field with \(p^{n}\) elements, \(p\) prime, into itself -- of the functional equation \(f(x^{2}+y^{2})=f(x)^{2}+f(y)^{2}\) the powers of the Frobenius automorphisms of the field if \(p\) is odd; and also the solutions for \(p=2\).
