The authors use some ideas about the Pontrjagin ring and its connections with Hopf algebra. They determine \(H_* (Ad; Z/5)\) for \(G=E_8\) and offer a method for the determination of the coproduct and the cohomology operations on \(H^* (E_8; Z/5)\) using the adjoint actions of \(E_8\) on \(\Omega E_8\). They give a computation of the Hopf algebra structures and the cohomology operations on \(H_* (\Omega E_8; Z/5)\).
