The aim of this paper is to transfer the theory of quasi-positive definite functions on groups and semigroups to the case of hypergroups. These functions are associated with unitary representations of groups and semigroups in indefinite inner product spaces of finite negative rank. The author succeeds to define quasi-positive definite functions on hypergroups such that the definition becomes compatible with the ones for groups and semigroups.
