A 2-D Schur algorithm for the AR modelling of 2-D fields using appropriately defined quarter-plane prediction error fields is developed. First- and second-quadrant gapped functions at each stage are used to compute the lattice parameter factors. A simple procedure is developed to calculate the 2-D transfer function from the given lattice parameter factors. Numerical comparisons between the 2-D lattice structure and other existing four-field lattice structures are also presented.
