Analytic estimates for the boundary of the region of asymptotic attraction (Q1384916)

An improvement of the back propagation method for the approximation of the region of attraction of asymptotically stable equilibrium points is presented. Instead of considering a few of arbitrarily chosen initial points, the authors consider a small surface surrounding the equilibrium position. The surface is gien in a parametric form. Then the points of the surface are back propagated by means of a symbolic Euler integration method. The boundary of the region of attraction is therefore approximated by a surface parametrically defined in analytic form.
