A new class of unitals in the Hughes plane (Q1386687)

While unitals embedded in the classical projective plane have been intensively studied, not much is known on the existence of unitals in nonclassical finite projective planes. In the present paper, for each odd prime power \(q\), the author constructs a new family of unitals embedded in the (nonclassical) Hughes plane of order \(q\). Furthermore, the collineation groups of these unitals are determined, and they are classified via projective equivalence. The author also studies their dual designs and identifies some members to be self-dual.
