The authors determine integrity bases for functions of a traceless symmetric third (or fourth) order tensor which are invariant under the special orthogonal group SO(3) and the full orthogonal group O(3), respectively. The corresponding bases for functions on third order tensors consist of five and four elements, respectively. In the case of fourth order tensors there are nine elements which form a basis in both cases.
