The volume presents a collection of fourteen papers which documents the current state of this rapidly emerging field, although, for one reason or another, some of the papers were not submitted for publication. The first section of the book is devoted to the opening lecture delivered by \textit{D. D. Joseph} and deals with a survey on lubricated transport of viscous materials. The second section covers the flow through pipes. Eight papers report on topics like the transport of capsules, problems encountered in the petroleum industry, and peristaltic transport in a finite circular pipe. In the third section three interesing contributions discuss suspensions, while in the final section, entitled ``Miscellanea'', two papers are presented. In the opinion of the reviewer, the last paper ``Thought old and new on moving contact lines'' deserves special mentioning. This timely work, aptly and carefully edited by H. Ramkisson, will certainly stimulate further research and should be of interest to scientists and engineers in academia and industry.
