In this paper the author stydies a singular case in the control problem determined by a sysem of nonlinear hyperbolic equations presented in a canonical form and derives second-order necessary optimality conditions. Such control problems appear in optimizing a number of chemical-engineering processes. The approach adopted is based on the construction of a new formula for the increment of second order for the objective functional.
