In this paper the author discusses the problem of noise-reduction frequency spectrum in a waveguide. It is well known that both the spectrum of resonant frequencies and the corresponding eigenfunctions of a diffraction problem can substantially change when a spectral parameter is contained in the boundary condition. This property of the spectrum of a boundary value problem is discussed here to show that it can be applied to widen the frequency spectrum of noise reduction in a waveguide.
