The author formulates a nondegeneracy criterion for three-dimensional ruled cells in the form of a condition under which the Jacobian of the map generating those cells is positive. Such cells are most widely used in difference and finite element methods as applied to three-dimensional problems. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the Jacobian to be positive are established.
