A barycentric embedding theorem of \textit{W. T. Tutte} [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III. Ser. 13, 743-768 (1963; Zbl 0115.40805)] is applied, along with the computation of equlibrium stresses of graphs using the Maxwell-Cremona theorem from rigidity theory, to build isotopies of triangulations in the plane. A counterexample is provided to show that the analog of Tutte's theorem in dimension 3 is false.
