The author studies the approximation of elements in a Banach space by elements of some cones. He uses a differential kind of metrics for approximating elements and approximants ones. The author generalizes the theorem of duality of \textit{A. L. Garkavi} [Usp. Mat. Nauk 16, No. 4(100), 141-145 (1961; Zbl 0104.08404)]. The theory is applied to approximation in the complex plane by functions which are analytic in a sector.
