By considering a family of orthogonal polynomials generalizing the Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind the authors refine the corresponding results of \textit{M. de Sainte-Catherine} and \textit{G. Viennot} on Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind in [Lect. Notes Math. 1171, 120--128 (1985; Zbl 0587.05003)].
