The Lawrence lifting of a set of vectors, which is a well-known construction in geometric combinatorics, is generalized to a hierarchy of higher-dimensional configurations for any configuration of lattice vectors. The authors prove finiteness results for the Markov bases, Graver bases and face posets of these higher Lawrence configurations. They also give applications to the theory of log-linear models in statistics.
