It is shown through an effective procedure that each finite weakly left ample semigroup \(S\) admits a finite proper cover. That is, there exists a finite proper left ample semigroup \(\widehat S\) and a surjective morphism \(\widehat S\to S\) that is one-to-one on idempotents.
