The author considers radical and torsion classes of MV-algebras. Using his previous results on such classes of lattice-ordered groups, he obtains various relations between these classes, and also to varieties of MV-algebras. While each variety of lattice-ordered groups is a torsion class, the author shows that the corresponding assertion for MV-algebras is false. In fact, he provides explicit counter-examples.
