The problem of finding the minimal canonical representation of a radical differential ideal can be reduced to the Ritt problem. The author proposes an algorithm for computing generators of a prime differential ideal in some particular cases. A sufficient condition for a prime differential ideal to be generated by its characteristic set is found.
