The authors extend the classical notion of extrinsic symmetric space and show that this motion is of independent interest, basically, because many nontrivial examples exist ``in nature''. They present two new families of examples of extrinsic symmetric Cauchy-Riemann spaces. The appendix contains some notation concerning compact Hermitian symmetric spaces and their canonical embedding as well as some complementary calculations.
