Gyroscopic systems are studied. They model an important class of problems in the linear theory of vibrations. They are characterized by the transfer function of the form \[ L(\lambda)= \lambda^2 I+ B+ C, \] where \(C> 0\), \(B\) is indefinite and invertible. They are stable at \[ |B|> kI+ k^{-1}C \] for real \(k> 0\). Stability is retained at considerably weaker conditions.
