The authors study film coatings by the approximation method. The Navier-Stokes equations are solved which describe both the meniscus domain and the domain of the moving forefront. Some results are compared with those obtained earlier [\textit{V. Ludvuksson} and \textit{E. N. Lightfoot}, AIChE Journal 17, 1166--1173 (1971)].
